The Thursday Destination of the Upper Palatinate

Three Reasons to Dance With Us on Thursdays

No other club between Regensburg, Nuremberg and the Czech border dances on Thursdays.

Plus and A1 — every week

Every Thursday from Plus upwards, not just at specials. A1 with an A2 preview on the first Thursday of the month.

Level up without a class

We run no separate level courses: Plus dancers pick up A1 figures during the regular evening — free of charge, guests included.

Friendship book & dangle

EAASDC member since 2005. Your visit counts towards your friendship book; first-time visitors get a dangle.

Who the Evening Is For

For anyone who dances Plus confidently — whether from your own club, after a break, or just passing through. A1 and A2 dancers find their level here every week, and Plus dancers grow with us. Mainstream dancers are welcome as guests too, but should know: we call from Plus upwards. And if you have never danced before, the way in is our beginners' course — club night is for dancing, not teaching.

From Nuremberg, Fürth, Lauf and the Nuremberg Land: ride along instead of driving

You dance in the Nuremberg metropolitan region and are looking for a Thursday with A1 and A2? Via the A6 you reach us in just under an hour — and you do not even have to drive yourself: almost every week dancers from the Fürth area come to Ensdorf, and usually there are one or two free seats in the car. Send us a short e-mail saying where you are coming from — we will put you in touch.

If you dance with the Sputniks in Lauf on Wednesdays and are looking for a second evening in the week at A1 level, you will find it with us on Thursdays — a good 50 minutes from Lauf, Hersbruck or Röthenbach.

For dancers from Nuremberg, Lauf or Erlangen the first Thursday of the month is especially worthwhile — A1 with an A2 preview, the evening the region otherwise hardly offers. Those who come regularly soon find a fixed rhythm with the car-poolers.

Frequently Asked Questions From Guests

What level do you dance on club night?

Plus and A1 — with an A2 preview on the first Thursday of the month. If you dance Plus confidently, you will keep up well; we are happy to show you the odd A1 figure along the way. Mainstream is not danced at club night.

Do I need to register as a guest?

Yes, please — shortly beforehand, so we can plan for you and set up the square. Easiest through the form on this page, or by WhatsApp or phone with Marion. Registration is required for the A1 evening with an A2 preview on the first Thursday.

What does a guest visit cost?

Nothing. Guests dance with us free of charge — even more than once. If you would like to join permanently you can become a member, but you do not have to.

Does the visit count towards my friendship book?

Yes. We have been an EAASDC member since 2005 — bring your friendship book along and we will happily sign it. First-time visitors also get a dangle as a keepsake.

When and where exactly?

Every Thursday from 7:30 to 10:00 pm at the Pfarrsaal St. Jakob, Hauptstr. 5a, 92266 Ensdorf — between Amberg and Schwandorf, right on the B85. Parking is at the monastery; directions with a map are on the Directions page.

I am coming from the Czech Republic — is language a problem?

Not at all. The calls are in English everywhere, and we speak German and English. For Czech guests we have a dedicated page with travel times from Plzeň, Tachov and Domažlice.

Is there a lift from Nuremberg or Fürth?

Yes, almost every week. Dancers from the Fürth area drive to Ensdorf regularly, and usually one or two seats in the car are free. Send a short e-mail to marketing@bavarian-starlights.com saying where you are coming from — we will put you in touch.

What should I wear?

Whatever you wear at your own club. Traditional outfits are welcome but not required — comfortable everyday clothes are just as fine.
