Frequently Asked Questions About Levels and Clubs in Bavaria

Where can I dance A2 in the Upper Palatinate and Franconia?

Regularly in four places: with the Sputniks in Lauf an der Pegnitz (Wednesdays — Plus, A1 and A2 rotate across the Wednesdays of the month; from 15 September 2026 additionally an A2 course on Tuesdays), with the Bavarian Starlights in Ensdorf near Amberg (first Thursday of the month A1 with an A2 preview, registration required), with the Wild Bunch in Waldershof (Sundays A1 + A2, per EAASDC directory) and at a Saturday-morning date of the ACR in Regensburg (A1 + A2, per squaredance.net — check with the ACR first). Plus A2 specials in the EAASDC calendar.

Where is A1 danced every week?

In the Upper Palatinate every week with the Bavarian Starlights in Ensdorf (Thursday, Plus and A1). In the Nuremberg Land the Sputniks in Lauf dance A1 regularly, rotating with Plus and A2 across the Wednesdays of the month. Combine both and you have two evenings a week at your level.

I dance with the Sputniks in Lauf — where can I dance A1 or A2 in addition?

Thursdays in Ensdorf, a good 50 minutes via the A6: the Bavarian Starlights dance Plus and A1 every week, and A1 with an A2 preview on the first Thursday of the month — a second evening in the week alongside Wednesday in Lauf. Guests from Plus are welcome free of charge, and almost every week someone from the Nuremberg Land drives over with free seats in the car.

Which club dances on Thursdays?

Between Regensburg, Nuremberg and the Czech border, only the Bavarian Starlights in Ensdorf at Plus/A1 level. Thursday Mainstream is also danced by the Shooting Stars in Fürth (the ideal club for newcomers, with their own Plus evening on Tuesdays) and the Castle Twirlers in Coburg; further south by the Lenbach Swingers in Schrobenhausen (Mainstream and Plus) and the One-way Promenaders in Dingolfing (Mainstream).

Where can you dance C1 or C2 in Bavaria?

In northern Bavaria only with ACR in Erlangen — Tuesdays, C1 in odd and C2 in even calendar weeks. That is not yet the right level for Plus, A1 and A2 dancers; Ensdorf, Lauf and Waldershof are there for that.

What is the difference between Plus, A1 and A2?

They are programs that build on one another under the CALLERLAB standard: Mainstream is the base, Plus adds around 30 calls, and A1 (Advanced 1) and A2 build further on that and require confident Plus. If you dance a level, you can dance it anywhere in the world — the calls are standardised.

Where do I find all dates and specials?

In the EAASDC event calendar (eaasdc.eu) and on the dance map at squaredance.net. For Franconia, sd-franken.de brings the clubs together. We list our A2 evenings and specials there too.
