Become a Member — Square Dance From Plus in a Small Club With a Big Level
The Bavarian Starlights are a square dance club in Ensdorf near Amberg (Upper Palatinate, Bavaria): every Thursday Plus and A1, with an A2 preview on the first Thursday of the month, our own caller, EAASDC member since 2005. We are looking for dancers from Plus upwards who want to join permanently — and the way in always starts with a guest visit.
What you get with us
Why Dancers From the Region Join Us
A club that dances your level every week — without driving to specials to get it.
Plus and A1 every Thursday
Weekly, not just once a month. A1 with an A2 preview on the first Thursday — the only Thursday club between Regensburg, Nuremberg and the border.
From Plus to A2 without a level class
We pull the level up together during club night. That is how our whole club got from Plus to A2 — and how we will take you along, too.
Small, close-knit, with a say
Around ten active members, our own caller, after-parties, club celebrations and visits to neighbouring clubs. Rank and title stay at home.
How to Become a Member
- Come as a guest. Register for a Thursday and dance with us — free of charge, as often as you like. You will quickly feel whether the level and the people are a fit.
- Let us know. If you want to be part of it, tell Marion or someone on the board — at club night, by WhatsApp, or by phone.
- Become a member. We discuss the fee and formalities in person. No fine print, no probation period.
Who This Is For — and Who It Is Not (Yet) For
From Plus upwards you are in the right place: you dance with us right away and grow towards A1 and A2. If you currently dance Mainstream, you are welcome as a guest, but should know that we call from Plus upwards here. And if you have never danced before, the way in is our beginners' course — it leads straight into the club afterwards.
We dance at the Pfarrsaal St. Jakob, Hauptstr. 5a, 92266 Ensdorf, every Thursday from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. All dates are on the schedule, and what an evening looks like is on Club Night.
Frequently Asked Questions About Membership
Do I need to be a member to dance with you?
No. Guests dancing Plus or above are welcome to dance with us free of charge any time — even regularly. Membership is for those who want to belong permanently, have a say, and help carry the club.
What level do I need?
Plus should be solid. On club night we dance Plus and A1, with an A2 preview on the first Thursday of the month; you pick up A1 with us along the way. If you have never danced before, start with the beginners’ course and join us afterwards.
How does joining work?
Come as a guest, as often as you like. When it feels right, let Marion or someone on the board know — we discuss the rest (fee, formalities) in person at club night. There is no probation period and no pressure to sign up after your third visit.
What does membership cost?
We will tell you the current annual fee when you visit, or if you ask Marion. It covers the hall and the caller — a small club does not need more than that.
I am already a member of another club. Can I still join?
Yes, that is common in square dance. Many dancers belong to two clubs — with us, for example, because no other club in the region dances on Thursdays, or because they are after A1 and A2.
How often do I need to come?
As often as you can. With around ten active members, we are glad about every Thursday the square fills up — but nobody keeps an attendance list. For planning, we ask each week who is coming.
